Shaw and Partners World Ocean Series
Since launching in 2011, the series has grown into one of the world’s leading surf sports competitions, bringing together elite athletes, major events and international racing across Australia, Great Britain, France, New Zealand and the United States.
The 2026/27 season is the biggest in the series’ history — a world-class event calendar, major championship opportunities, dedicated youth racing, community participation events and an extensive prize pool.
The 2026/27 season
Who is the Shaw and Partners World Ocean Series for?
The 2026/27 programme includes 18 Open events, three dedicated youth events and a community-participation programme of 2km Ocean Swims beginning at Burleigh Heads. Current competitive event pages identify Open, U15 and U17 racing categories; check each event page and entry circular for the published categories and entry requirements.
Youth racing is published for Bonny Hills, including the Race One Youth World Championships, and the Hayden Kenny Classic at Alexandra Headland. See the relevant event pages for youth schedules and entry updates.
For Open racing, youth racing and the 2km community ocean swims, participants must be a member of a surf lifesaving club or hold a Bronze Medallion. For WOS-owned and operated competitive events, WOS membership is also required to race and to be eligible for series points and prizes; race entries are purchased separately.

Points, prizes & conditions
Membership details, events & race kit
For the 2026/27 season, athletes will need to become an official Shaw and Partners World Ocean Series Member to be eligible to race at our owned and operated events and be eligible for series points and prize money.
MEMBERSHIP WILL COST $30 and INCLUDES:
- Eligibility for WOS prizes and prize money
- Official WOS Race Vest
- Official WOS T-Shirt
- Official WOS Hat
- WOS carries limited liability insurance; athletes compete at their own risk. Private health insurance is strongly recommended.
WOS MEMBERSHIP EVENTS
Your membership applies to five WOS-owned Open events: Bonny Hills, Hayden Kenny Classic at Alexandra Headland, Manly Surf Open, Sunset and Shannon Eckstein Ironman Classic. The Race One Youth World Championships at Bonny Hills are also included, making six competitions in the list below:

Only WOS Members are eligible to compete for WOS prizes and prize money in the above 6 events.
Race entries are purchased separately from your WOS Membership. We have reduced the entry price of Early Birds and youth events this year on all events to balance the cost difference of the membership.
Race Kit - Shipping
Arrive at the events kitted out and use your time to warm up and prep instead of standing in line for collection. Be extra prepared and have stress free delivery, direct to your door for an additional fee of $10.
Race kits will be dispatched from 20 October 2026.

Click and collect will be available at 'The Lap Collective, 2076 Gold Coast Hwy, Miami QLD 4220', until the Monday before each event, then the location changes to the event Admin area. Admin area hours will be listed on the entry circular.

Every event earns points according to its tier. Your top five results across the season count toward the overall championship — rewarding consistency, performance and endurance.
The MVP Award honours the ultimate all-rounder, combining each athlete’s best five Swim, Board, Ski and Iron finishes to crown the season’s most complete ocean athlete.

Prize winner conditions
*Mitsubishi ASX: The athlete with the highest overall points score will receive first choice of the two cars. The Shaw and Partners World Ocean Series iron winner with the most points (men’s/women’s) will get to pick the colour of their car first.
All Race One boards awarded in the series will be selected from stock available at HQ (custom boards are not included). Please note that freight costs for any boards or craft awarded to winners or provided to host clubs are not covered and will be the responsibility of the winners or host clubs.
Insurance, refunds & prize claims
Insurance & risk statement
The Shaw and Partners World Ocean Series is an independent event and does not provide Work Cover or equivalent athlete coverage. We carry a limited liability insurance policy, but all athletes enter and compete entirely at their own risk.
We take every reasonable step to manage hazards and deliver the safest possible event; however, it is ultimately the responsibility of each athlete — or their parent/guardian — to ensure they are capable, prepared and safe in the conditions they choose to race in.
This is an active, high-risk sport, and we strongly encourage all athletes to hold private health insurance.

Prize money claims & refund policy
Prize money claims. All athletes who have placed and wish to claim prize money are required to complete the designated prize money claim form. Prize pools for each event can be found in the official entry circular. Prize money for team events will be paid directly to the participating club, and it is the club’s responsibility to distribute funds to team members accordingly. All prize money claims must be submitted no later than 30 April 2027.
Refund policy. Refunds for event entries will only be issued when a valid medical certificate is provided as evidence of illness or injury. All refund requests must be submitted no later than 24 hours prior to the event commencement. A $10 administration fee per individual entry will be deducted from any approved refund. Athletes who do not attend without prior approval are considered no-shows and are not eligible for a refund. If a participant is unable to compete and does not meet the medical refund requirements, they may transfer their entry to another eligible competitor, subject to organiser approval. Please allow up to 10 business days for refund processing.
