About the Shaw and Partners World Ocean Series

The Shaw and Partners World Ocean Series is the home of professional surf sports. It unites surf athletes from around the world in a celebration of ocean sport, endurance and community, with board, ski, swim and Iron racing on coastal courses that test speed, skill and stamina.

Since 2011

Since launching in 2011, the series has staged more than 160 events and received 42,000 race entries, with athletes representing 10 nations. Its published history includes more than 50 live broadcasts, 14 million digital views and $3.5 million in prize money. Founder Trent Goulding introduces the series on the home page.

The 2026/27 season

The published 2026/27 season runs from June 2026 to February 2027. Each athlete’s best five results count towards the overall championship, and the men’s and women’s Iron Champions are each awarded a Mitsubishi ASX. The season also includes three youth events, among them the Race One World Youth Championships, the Shaw and Partners World Ocean Series Club Championship and a new 2km Ocean Swim discipline beginning at Burleigh Heads.

Membership and results

For the 2026/27 season, WOS membership applies to the series’ owned and operated events and eligibility for WOS ranking points, prizes and prize money. Membership includes the official WOS race vest, T-shirt and hat. Race entries are purchased separately. Read the published conditions and insurance statement before entering.
